• El Salvador President Nayib Bukele has hired Saiffedean Ammous, author of The Bitcoin Standard, as an Economic Advisor to the National Bitcoin Office.
• In his role, Ammous will advise on economic policies and support President Bukele’s policy of “economic liberty and bitcoin”.

El Salvador President Hires Bitcoin Standard Author As Economic Advisor
El Salvador President Nayib Bukele has onboarded Saiffedean Ammous – author of The Bitcoin Standard – as an Economic Advisor to the National Bitcoin Office of El Salvador. In his role, the author will “advise on matters related to various economic policies” while supporting Bukele’s policy of “economic liberty and bitcoin” according to a statement from the office.
Meeting with Bukele
Last week, President Bukele met with Ammous to discuss a range of topics including “economics, hydroponics, cattle breeding, urban planning”, according to a tweet from Ammous’ account. During his stay in El Salvador he also lectured students in Cuba+ – El Salavdor’s Bitcoin and Lightning developer program.
Role As Economic Advisor
In his role as economic advisor for the National Bitcoin Office in El Salvador he will work closely with president Bukele in order to provide advice on matters related to various economic policies while promoting “economic liberty and bitcoin”. According to the office “As an Austrian economist best-selling author & well-known bitcoiner Saifedean will make a great addition to President Bukeles bitcoin team”.
Ammous is a respected Austrian economist who is best known for writing The Bitcoin Standard: The Decentralized Alternative To Central Banking which provides insight into how cryptocurrency can revolutionize finance and money around the world. He has appeared on numerous podcasts such as Stephan Livera’s show and spoken at conferences such as Anarchapulco 2020.
With the arrival of Saiffedean Ammous as an economic advisor it appears that El Salvador are taking their commitment towards embracing cryptocurrency seriously with president Nayib Bukeles vision for digital currency becoming more clear every day.
